Trustees for Alaska
CFC #11326
Melting glaciers. Vanishing sea ice. Drowning polar bears. Coastal villages in peril. For many, the stories about global warming describe events in a distant part of the world. But in Alaska, global warming is already a disaster, disrupting America's only arctic environment and the lives of people - and wildlife - today. That's where Trustees for Alaska comes in.
For 35 years, we've been the lawyers for Alaska's priceless environment, standing on the front lines to defend her crystalline waters, pristine air, spectacular wilderness, and millennia-old Native cultures. The range of our advocacy is as large as the "Great Land" itself - saving endangered whales, safeguarding incomparable national parks and refuges (including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), blocking a "bridge to nowhere," challenging construction of what promises to be the nation's largest open pit gold mine in the watershed of the world's largest sockeye salmon run. The challenges are huge: mining, oil and gas development, overfishing, increased shipping traffic, habitat destruction. So are the stakes. That's why conservation-minded Alaskans - and our supporters throughout the nation who share our commitment to environmental values - count on us to be there, providing legal counsel to protect and sustain Alaska's wild frontier.
Join with Trustees for Alaska to help defend Alaska's iconic wildlife, majestic places, and human communities. Your financial support will help us to protect and sustain Alaska's environment for generations to come!
